Serenity !

I took this picture while strolling on the banks of River Thames near Hampton Court. It was dusk and all the tourists had left. Everything was very still and quiet and the river was mirror calm.

The first word that comes to my mind when I look at this picture is serenity.  With the kind of stressful lives we lead, we all need stress busters and spending some alone time in quiet places is one of my favourite ways to beat stress.

Whenever I feel over whelmed and exhausted, I close my eyes and visualize myself walking through the mountains, through peaceful woods or on the banks of a river on a quiet evening… And I feel instantly calm !

I wish you all a very Peaceful and Serene year ahead !

  1. Sitting next to a body of water is supposed to calm and soothe you. And it is so true. I remember the lake I used to frequent while at Cal with my son.
    A lovely, serenity inducing pic.

I know its suppose to be calm and serene but without freinds or loved ones around it can really feel depressing :P

  10. I am there with you. Rivers have the power to calm you, despite their constant motion. The solitary swan completes the picture. :)

  13. Serene indeed. And tranquil too. I have gotten up and dragged my lazy self off to your blog :D It worked! The PR strategy. :) I wish to travel like you someday. I love going places while we go around the sun and the sun goes around the milky way and the milky way around god knows what...in essence, I would like to get out of my notion that I am travelling places sitting in my cubicle :D The other pictures are amazing too. I had last visited when you had burned your chin. Lots of love, Kamikaze.
